The short version.
- The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of ours. We never receive your data.
- Everything you log stays on your device, in storage only this app can read.
- We run no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and include no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- The app uses the internet for exactly two things: YouTube thumbnails and browsing YouTube inside the app to pick exercise videos.
- If you turn it on, the app can write your workouts to Health Connect on your device. It writes; it does not read your wider health history.
- If Android Backup is enabled, your workout file is included in your own Google account backup, like other app data.
Old Man Fitness is published by Stillwork Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
1. What the app stores
All of this is kept in a single file in the app's private storage on your device.
| What | Why | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Which exercises you completed, and when | History and progress | "Forearm plank hold, 7:42am" |
| Numbers you record | To track improvement | "56 seconds", "12 reps" |
| Added weight you record | To track load over time | "20 lb vest" |
| Schedule, experience level, equipment | To build your plan | "Mon/Wed/Fri", "no equipment" |
| YouTube video IDs you pin | So your chosen video is one tap away | a video identifier |
| Your body weight, only if you enter it | Solely to estimate calories burned | "195 lb" |
| App preferences | Rest timer length, search filters | "90 seconds" |
| Your eating window, only if you switch it on | So the app knows when to alert you | "noon to 8pm" |
| Fasting periods the app recorded | So you can see what you did | "16h 0m, ended noon" |
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise or coarse location, photos, microphone or camera input, advertising identifiers, or any device identifier.
The daily reminder
The optional reminder is a local alarm set by your own device. It is not a push notification: no server is involved, nothing is sent anywhere, and we are not told whether you opened it. It is off unless you switch it on.
The eating window
You choose two times — when your eating window opens and when it closes. If you switch the alerts on, the app sets two local alarms on your own device to tell you the window has opened or closed. As with the daily reminder, no server is involved and nothing is sent anywhere. When the window opens, the app records the fast that just ended so you can see it later.
The app does not recommend a fasting schedule, does not judge the one you pick, and does not ask why. Fasting is not right for everyone — the app says so in the settings screen, next to the switch.
Your body weight
Body weight is optional. It is used only in an on-device calculation that estimates calories burned. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and the app works normally without it. You can clear it at any time from the Health Connect card on the workout screen.
2. What leaves your device, and where it goes
We operate no servers and receive nothing. There are three ways data can leave your device, all under your control.
a. YouTube
The app shows thumbnail images from YouTube and includes an embedded browser so you can find and pin exercise videos without leaving the app. When you use those features, your device contacts Google's servers directly, and Google may receive your IP address and information about the video you are viewing, exactly as if you had opened YouTube in a web browser.
The in-app browser is not signed in to your Google account and keeps its own separate cookie storage. We do not read, intercept or store your browsing.
This activity is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
b. Health Connect
If you grant permission, the app writes finished workouts to Health Connect, Android's on-device health data store. Specifically it writes:
- Exercise sessions — start and end time, the type of activity, the session title, and a plain-text list of the exercises you completed
- Active calories burned — the estimate described above, only if you entered a weight
The app requests no read access at all. It cannot see anything in Health Connect — not what it wrote itself, and certainly not what any other app wrote. Re-saving a day updates the earlier entry rather than duplicating it because each record carries a stable identifier that Health Connect recognises on write, which needs no read permission.
Health Connect is part of your device. Data written there stays on your device unless you separately allow another app to read it. You can review or revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Security and privacy → Health Connect, and you can delete the data the app wrote from within Health Connect itself.
We do not receive Health Connect data.
c. Android Backup
Android's built-in backup includes this app's data file so a new or reset device can restore your history. That backup goes to your own Google account, is encrypted, and is governed by Google's terms. We have no access to it. You can disable it for all apps in your device's backup settings.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your data. There is no data to sell, because we never receive any.
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting SDKs, attribution SDKs or advertising SDKs.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children (see section 7).
4. Keeping it and getting rid of it
Your data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed. There is no retention period on our side because there is no copy on our side.
You can remove your data at any time by:
- Clearing individual days from within the app
- Settings → Apps → Old Man Fitness → Storage → Clear data, which erases everything
- Uninstalling the app, which removes the data file with it
- Health Connect → Old Man Fitness, to delete anything written there
- Turning off Android Backup, and deleting the existing backup from your Google account
Because we hold no copy of your information, requests to us to access, correct, export or delete your data cannot be fulfilled by us — you already hold the only copy, and the steps above put it entirely in your hands.
5. Security
Data is stored in Android's app-private storage, which the operating system prevents other apps from reading. On most modern Android devices this storage is encrypted at rest by the system. No transmission of your logged data occurs, so there is no transmission to intercept.
No method of storage is perfectly secure, and a device that is rooted, compromised or shared with others may expose app data.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California) to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, and to object to its processing.
Because Old Man Fitness processes everything locally and we never receive your information, you can exercise all of these directly on your device using section 4. We are not a "business" selling or sharing personal information under the CCPA, and we do not act as a data controller for information we never receive.
If you believe we hold information about you, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
7. Children
Old Man Fitness is intended for adults and is rated accordingly. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Strength training in unsupervised children carries risks this app is not designed to manage.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
